MEA Ratification Voting Results

Two different tentative contract voting results

We, the Melrose Education Association (MEA), are pleased to announce that the tentative agreement with the Melrose School Committee and our Unit C Paraprofessionals was approved by our membership tonight. Full ratification is subject to approval by the Melrose School Committee.

However, work remains to be done to reach an acceptable agreement with the MEA educators who are in the union’s Unit A Teachers bargaining group.
The Unit A members, with an overwhelming 97%, voted down a tentative contract agreement between the Melrose School Committee and the MEA.
Educators rejected a wage proposal that falls short of the goal of recognizing the value of their work and establishing salaries that will attract and retain the best possible educators.
Members of the MEA also rejected unacceptable language around working conditions.
The MEA is committed to returning to the bargaining table with the Melrose School Committee.
