MELROSE, MA — Monica Medeiros, the at-large alderman who is the lone Republican in the mayoral race, declined to attend Wednesday night's mayoral forum put on by the Democratic City Committee due to the committee's "history of campaigning against" her. Medeiros told Patch Wednesday night she looks forward to talking to voters and having a nonpartisan forum, but did not believe Wednesday night's would be objective.

"Based on the Democratic City Committee's history of campaigning against me, I did not feel this would be an objective forum," Medeiros told Patch. "I am looking forward to meeting voters one on one, as well as participating in other truly, nonpartisan forums moving forward."

The Democratic City Committee said the forum was nonpartisan. Democratic candidates Manisha Bewtra, Jackie Lavender Bird, Mike Zwirko and Paul Brodeur attended.
