At their first executive board meeting of the school year, the Melrose Education Association officially endorsed question 1, also known as the Fair Share Amendment. If passed, the amendment will create an additional tax on annual income over $1 million, dedicating the funds to public education and transportation.
Passing Question 1 on the ballot in November would allow Massachusetts to raise an additional $2 billion annually to spend on all levels of public education as well as repair and maintenance of bridges, roads, and public transportation.
The MEA has long advocated for adequate funding to give our Melrose Community the schools that it deserves, and Question 1 will put Massachusetts on track to fully fund the needs of students in Melrose and across the Commonwealth.
We urge you to vote YES on Question 1 on the November 8th ballot.
