Melrose High Senior Among First To Net $40K Amazon Scholarship
One of the first 100 ever winners of the scholarship just so happens to go to Melrose High.

MELROSE, MA — A Melrose High senior recently became one of the first recipients of the Amazon Future Engineer scholarship. Anna Claire Norton was awarded the $40,000 scholarship to study computer science at a university she chooses. Norton also has a paid internship awaiting her after her freshman year.
Norton is one of 100 seniors "from underserved communities across the country" to receive the scholarship, Amazon said in a Tuesday press release. You can see a video of Norton receiving the news here.
Norton will receive $10,000 over per year over four years. The recipients were chosen "for their academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, work experience, future goals, and diversity." All demonstrated financial need, Amazon said.
