Melrose to Hold Community ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

The ice bucket challenge will be held in honor of longtime Melrose resident Mary O'Donnell. She lost her battle with ALS last year.

On Sunday, August 16, following an honorary 5K race, the City of Melrose will take part in a community ice bucket challenge in memory of Mary O’Donnell.

O’Donnell was a longtime Melrose resident, a beloved mother and friend to many. She passed away last year after a battle with ALS.

The massive ice bucket challenge will be held around 10:15 a.m. in an effort to squash ALS.

City officials encourage all residents to come out and support the great cause. The race will begin at 9 a.m. at Pine Banks.
