The Amesbury resident will be arraigned later this month.
MELROSE, MA — The Melrose Police Department contributed to the indictment of a man on drug charges, according to the Department of Justice.
27-year-old Edwin Tomas Arias Ubri, a Dominican national living in Amesbury, has been charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. Arias Ubri reportedly agreed to supply five pounds of the drug to a police source in January. He was apprehended leaving the residence of the source and the drug was found in his vehicle. His charge provides for a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, and a fine of up to $10 million.
Arias Ubri is slated to be arraigned in federal court on Thursday, Feb. 27. The Amesbury, Salem, and Salem New Hampshire Police Departments also contributed to his arrest.
