Melrose Police Logs: Man Photographing Students|Stolen Patio Chairs|Just Reading A Book

MELROSE, MA — The Melrose Police log offers a peek into some of the (allegedly) crime-y parts of the city. It's important to remember that an arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Police listed dozens of entries between Tuesday, Aug. 29 and Thursday, Aug. 31. (Remember to keep up on local happenings by subscribing to Melrose Patch for free!)

Tuesday, Aug. 29

9:25 a.m. — A report was taken of a past hit and run on School Street.

10:30 a.m. — Someone found a license and brought it to the station. A person came in and retrieved his/her license.

12:30 p.m — A report was made for larceny/forgery/fraud after patio chairs were missing from Elmhurst Nursing Home.

1:31 p.m. — An alarm company called in a burglary alarm for a Lake Ave. residence. Police found a cleaning crew, who did not know the codes.

2 p.m. — A person walked into the station and reported they were bit by a dog at the park on Lynn Fells Pkwy.

2:02 p.m. — Someone found a debit card on Essex Street and brought it into the office. It belonged to a Stoneham resident.

3:14 p.m. – Someone reported the larceny of a cell phone on Franklin St.

7:35 p.m. — Someone complained that a group on the Melrose Common was damaging toys.

Wednesday, Aug. 30

10:20 a.m. — A suspicious vehicle in the Lincoln School parking lot was reported. A note was left for the vehicle, which had NH plates.

1:19 p.m. — 20-year-old John Keohane was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subs. offense,) and leaving the scene of property damage.

Thursday, Aug. 31

8:05 a.m. — Caller complains Highland's Depot ticket booth isn't working.

9:35 a.m. — Caller reports his vehicle was struck in the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital parking lot.

10:39 a.m. — Someone on Franklin Street filed a report of a stolen credit card.

11:09 a.m — Well-being check at Franklin Field after caller reports female laying the field. She was just reading a book in the sun, police said. "all ok."

1:10 p.m. — A caller reported a female was screaming for help in her Main Street apartment.

3:25 p.m. — A caller reported a tan male with a beard wearing a hat sitting in a blue newer model Toyota sedan was taking pictures of students in the area of 350 Lynn Fells Pkwy and 102 Tremont St. The caller said the male put his camera down and fled toward Stoneham when spotted.

4:17 p.m. — A motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian was reported on Grove Street.
