Melrose Rep. Brodeur Exploring Run For Mayor
Melrose will vote for a new mayor this year. Brodeur is thinking about being one of the names on the ballot.

Rep. Paul Brodeur is exploring a run for Mayor of Melrose in 2019. Brodeur told the State House News Service in a statement he is considering getting on the ballot.
Brodeur wouldn't need to formally declare until May, but he told the New Service he knows that the political reality is that he'd have to make up his mind sooner than later.
"Several friends and supporters have urged me to consider running for Mayor of Melrose, and while honored, it is a decision which I do not take lightly. My family and I will explore this opportunity carefully," Brodeur told the News Service.

Brodeur represents Melrose and parts of Malden and Wakefield. He has co-chaired the Committee Labor and Workforce Development during the most recent legislative session, and was re-elected last month to a fifth, two-year term.
"I remain fully dedicated to my duties as a State Representative, and it is a privilege to advocate for the residents of Malden, Melrose, and Wakefield. I am eager to start a new legislative session so that I can continue work with my colleagues to increase funding for our schools, invest in our infrastructure, and create policies which empower our communities to thrive," Brodeur said.

Mayor Gail Infurna said when she was running for President of the Board of Alderman - which at the time was a de facto run for mayor due to Rob Dolan leaving for Lynnfield - that she will not run for re-election in 2019.
