Melrose resident named tennis league MVP

Marie-Elena Gerety of Melrose, a sophomore at Austin Preparatory School in Reading, has been named the Catholic Central League’s Most Valuable Tennis Player.

Gerety, who also served as a team captain, posted an undefeated season at the No. 1 singles slot for the Cougars. The team clinched the league championship, going undefeated in CCL league matches.
