Melrose Scholarship Honoring Late Alderman Seeks Applications

The Disabled and Limbless Veterans, Inc. is accepting applications for the 3rd annual Bill Forbes scholarship.

MELROSE, MA — The memory of former Alderman Bill Forbes lives on as the organization he helped start once again searches for local high school students to give a boost entering college. The Disabled and Limbless Veterans, Inc. along with the Forbes family announced this week they are accepting applications for the 3rd annual Bill Forbes scholarship.

"He was our hero - and the scholarship helps our family continue to tell his story and do the things he was so passionate about," current Alderman Scott Forbes, his son, said.

The scholarship, up to $5,000 for each student, will be awarded to graduating Melrose seniors who are members of military families or "have demonstrated outstanding work and dedication within the local veteran community," the organization said.
