Melrose School Hours, Start Of School Information

The following was submitted by the superintendent's office:

School Hours

Elementary | Grades Kindergarten-5

The school day begins at: 8:03 a.m. and ends at 2:20 p.m.

On WEDNESDAY, August 28th (only):
● All students in grades 1-5 will meet their teachers at 7:53 a.m.in the designated area. They will line up by class and enter the building at 8:03 a.m.
● Kindergarten students will meet their teachers at 8:20 a.m. in the designated area. They will line up by class and enter the building at 8:30 a.m.
● The purpose of the later start time for Kindergartners is to help ease the transition on the first day of school for our youngest students.

On THURSDAY, August 29th : Teachers will meet all K-5 students in the designated area at 7:53 a.m. and enter the building at 8:03 a.m. The school day ends at 2:20 p.m.

All schools will be closed on FRIDAY, August 30th and MONDAY, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day. School will resume on

TUESDAY, September 3rd at its normal time.

Middle School | Grades 6-8

The school day begins at 8:15 a.m. and ends at 2:41 p.m.

On WEDNESDAY, August 28th (only):

 All students in grade 6 should report to the auditorium at 8:15

 All students in grade 7 and 8 should report to their homerooms for extended homeroom.

 Homeroom, Team assignments, and schedules will be available during the week of August 19th

All schools will be closed on FRIDAY, August 30th and MONDAY, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day. School will resume on TUESDAY, September 3rd at its normal time.

High School | Grades 9-12

Grade 9 and New Student Orientation

Wednesday, August 21st 10:00 a.m. – noon

Location: Melrose High School

All incoming 9th graders and students new to MHS are expected to attend. The program will be led by the MHS Administration and student leaders. Students will have the opportunity to tour the building and familiarize themselves with the expectations of MHS. Attendance at New Student Orientation is essential to the success of incoming students.

Grades 9-12

WEDNESDAY, August 28th : All students should report by 8:15 a.m. to their A Block class. The school day ends at 2:41 p.m.

All schools will be closed on FRIDAY, August 30th and MONDAY, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day. School will resume on TUESDAY, September 3rd at its normal time.

Franklin School Kindergarten and Preschool

The school day for kindergarten and all full day preschool classes at the Franklin begins at: 8:30 a.m. and ends at 2:47 p.m. Arrival and Dismissal Procedures will be shared at the Great Start and Sneak Peek Events and can also be found here.

 Great Start (adult only event) Monday August 26, 2019 6:30-8:00 (Stay and Play info will be shared 6:00-6:30)

 Sneak Peek - child and adult meet the teacher and other families Tuesday August 27, 2019 2:30-3:30

 First Day - Wednesday August 28, 2019

 There will be NO Early Bird Program on the first day of school.

 The Stay and Play after school program will START on the first day of school.
