Melrose's Allison Magnan Running 2014 Boston Marathon for Neurofibromatosis Awareness, Research

Age: 28 

Goal: To finish with a smile on my face :) My last marathon time was 3:53 in Hartford (October 2013), but I realize this may not be feasible for Boston this year!

Reason for running: I am running the Boston Marathon for three reasons. One is to raise awareness for a disorder that many are completely unaware of. In my fundraising efforts, I am able to reach out to many people who have never heard of NF, but will now know of the disorder’s existence and may perhaps further research it (even if they don’t donate!).

I am also running to support my friend Jill and her family, as her son Ryan has NF.

Lastly, I am running simply because it is my favorite thing to do. Running clears my head and makes me happy, and I try and enjoy each run.

I have been running regularly and competitively for a little over 5 years now. The 2014 Boston Marathon will be my third marathon.
