Migliorelli is Best Candidate for Melrose

Experience, compassion, and dedication make Leila Migliorelli a top candidate for City Council

To Whom It May Concern,

For the first time in over 20 years, Melrose will soon elect a new mayor and many new city councilors. That’s why the election on November 5 is so important, and why I am supporting Leila Migliorelli for City Council. Although Leila is a first-time candidate, she has the experience and the passion that will make her an excellent addition to the City Council.

I first met Leila when her youngest son was enrolled at Chime Time Children’s Center, where I was the director for 33 years. The first thing that struck me about Leila was how happy she was to be back in Melrose. She told me she had lived here as a child, moved away, and was now back with her husband and two young boys. It was clear to see how much this community meant to her, and how much she was looking forward to her sons growing up here.

Since those early days I have come to better know Leila and her dedication to public service in our community. The thing that strikes me most is her ability to connect with people in all walks of life -- from her sons’ young friends to the older residents around Melrose. She is determined to keep Melrose affordable for seniors and to explore opportunities to help seniors stay in their homes. She supported the recent tax override but understands what that may mean to some members of our community. That’s why she’s committed to addressing these issues head on to come up with a solution that benefits everyone. Her job at Tufts University, where she is responsible for ensuring money is spent how it was intended, gives me the confidence that she will ensure our taxes are spent appropriately.

Leila and I also share a love of walking down Main Street. Living close by, I often stroll to town to shop for both gifts and essentials. Leila is committed to maintaining the small-town charm of our downtown while also exploring smart growth ideas to keep our city moving forward. She thinks ahead to the future while also honoring our past.

I hope you will join me in voting for Leila Migliorelli on November 5.

Respectfully Submitted and Supporting.
