Melrose is fortunate to have a 235 acre green space called Mount Hood Memorial Park and Golf Course. It is located in the southeastern section of the city at 100 Slayton Road. The golf course, although owned by the city, is managed and operated by an experienced golf management company. The clubhouse is located in an idyllic setting overlooking First Pond. The rustic ambiance inside the clubhouse and the recent installation of air conditioning makes it a perfect place to have parties and family celebrations during all seasons. Although the park makes up only 25 acres, it is a great place to commune with nature and to leisurely hike the various marked trails throughout the park as well as following the paved road up to the most stunning views of the Boston skyline, Revere Beach, and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. I am referring to Slayton Tower which is located at the highest site within the park and offers panoramic views of the surrounding towns. If you haven’t already done so, take advantage of visiting this unique “Green Jewel” in Melrose. To learn more about this area visit the web site of the Mt. Hood Park Association at
