It’s cool here in the back yard, cool enough for a shirt, but to pleasant for me to leave and go into the house to get a cover-up.
The water flows freely over the stones into the small pond with the aid of the silent pump.

There is a gazing ball reflecting the scene of the trees and bushes around me.
The Rose of Shannon is in full bloom as the purple flowers attract the bees, and color the yard.

The surrounding wooden fence has hanging novelties; a frog leaping, an empty chicken flower container and a sunburst.
Hanging from one tree there are two statues of small girls on swings as the gentle breeze moves them slowly back and forth. The other large tree has a silly looking parrot, also on a swing. It is silent but it seems to be smiling and happy.
Looking over the scene with me is a heron, a beautiful bird standing tall on a cement foundation to keep watch. Around the edges of the pond, on arranged stone, are two mermaids. One lies down facing me and the other just sitting gazing into the pond. There is also an angel with wings in the position of a beautiful dance.
It is quiet here, peaceful with the occasional sound of a car moving along on the surrounding streets.
I can hear the sound of unseen and unknown birds. To my right a sturdy statuesque deer, lying down. Its eyes keeping watch on the house and the small bushes close by.
The tall bushes by the house will stay green all winter; but the tall trees will bring color of the fall season soon and the pond will need to be covered and the pump put to rest.
It has been a peaceful afternoon but now my neighbor’s children playing missed a swing of the bat in their yard and the yellow ball is now in my yard. Ball returned; game on for ½ an hour and dinner time for children.
It is quiet once again and I am here with my book, and the sound of the water running over the rocks into the pond.
