Old Hilltop Site Could Get A Starbucks

The proposal would have the coffee shop join 110 Grill on Route 1 South.

SAUGUS, MA — "Iced mocha for Sioux? Sioux City?"

As hard as it might have been to imagine a few years ago, a Starbucks could be headed toward the site of the old Hilltop on Route 1. Starbucks and 110 Grill are among those looking to get into the development being built where the big ol' cactus had ruled for decades, according to the Saugus Wicked Local.

The Starbucks would be moved from its current nearby location next to the Sketchers store on Route 1 South. The new location would be 2,366 square feet and open at 4:30 p.m.

110 Grill has 11 locations across Massachusetts with a few more slated to open within a year, including the Saugus location by the end of 2018. The menu suggests generally upscale American fare that looks relatively affordable. The proposed Saugus location would be 5,300 square feet with an outdoor patio and dining.

The development is set to become AvalonBay Communities, a residential and retail spot similar to Station Landing in Medford.
