Melrose Police Nab 40-Pound Pig on Main Street
Police made sure to stress the call didn't come over on a "ham" radio.

MELROSE, MA — Have you heard of Officer William O'Donnell: Pig Whisperer? You're missing out.
On Wednesday around 8 a.m., police received reports of a pot-bellied pig moseying around Main Street near Billy's Roast Beef & Seafood. O'Donnell located the not-so-little porker - she weight in at 40 pounds - and calmed her down to the point of being able to pet and pick her up.
The pig was then penned in a resident's backyard until Animal Control Officer Coral Hope. The pig was soon reunited with its owners on Main Street. Subscribe to Melrose Patch to keep up with all pork-related local news.

"This just goes to show that you never know what your next call will be," Chief Michael Lyle said. "Officer O'Donnell is an animal lover and he was the perfect person to respond in this situation."
Police made sure to stress the call didn't come over on a "ham" radio. Goodness, what a hammy joke.
