It is a sad commentary to learn that only 18% of eligible voters showed up at the polls in Tuesday’s election in Melrose. Another way of putting this is that 82% of voters stayed home and did not vote! Similar results are recorded for surrounding cities and towns.
With this sort of political indifference, it is no wonder that we have the political leadership we do! I only wish that cities and towns would have a policy of publishing the names of those who voted to embarrass those who don’t. Perhaps then these “non-voters” would get off their posteriors and exercise the right to vote in which over 1.3 million men/women sacrificed their lives over the years to provide them this right!
Just a FYI, if we happen to meet and you didn’t vote; please don’t bother to complain to me about the political situation in this state or city. Thanks.
