Red Hatters for December 2024

Are you all ready to ride with us this month?

Once again I must apologize if all the pictures do not come through.

December 3rd. and a three of us went, once again, to see the beautiful display of trees in Methuen.

The Festival of Trees has been up and running for 31 years and; each year that we have gone it has been an amazing show.

There are over 200 trees and wreaths to bid on, and someone ,(or many) will get a beautiful tree or wreath for their own homes.

From traditional to very modern the colors and brilliance of the displays were outstanding this year.

We had a great time.. Our lunch was in Stoneham at Local 438 grille and sport bar. Good food...good day....

December 5th. it was off to the Danversport Yacht Club in Danvers. This was "A Smoky Mountain Christmas" show. It was Kenny and Dolly; (Wendy T and Dave Karl) .

The songs were memorable from the music of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers Christmas albums.

Coat of Many Colors, Jolene, 9 to 5, I will Always Love You; these songs and many more , along with lunch made a happy hall full of people.

Six Hundred people filled the hall; people coming from many places in New England to see the show.

A wonderful afternoon filled with members of the audience joining in on some of the songs.

The first snow fall of the season,and then sunshine.....it was a day to remember. A good day...

December 8th and we were off again; this time to see "Christmas Time" at the Regal Players in Waltham.

There were carolers in the lobby to get us in the spirit and small children in many parts of the performance.

There was dancers and singers and the parade of wooden soldiers.

The program ended with a beautiful Nativity scene.

We enjoyed every minute of the performance; outstanding show.

Our dinner was at the Longhorn restaurant in Reading. With good food, and the spirit of the holiday in our system...how lucky we are.

December 10th. and right here at the Memorial Hall in Melrose we attended a Holiday Party.

The D J for the day was Alan Labella and he kept all of the 120 plus people singing and dancing.

Lunch was Salad, Lasagna, dinner rolls,tea, coffee, juice, or punch; dessert was the sweetness of cake. Waiters and waitresses were Melrose Senior Center volunteers, three of Melrose best police force, and the Mayor Jen Grigoraitis had her work apron on too.

How much better could that get. Well it did....

Mr. and Mrs. Claus ( Joe Montalto and Marie Dwyer) made their appearance, and Erika and Lauren Grymek were busy elf's.

Gift bags, poinsettia raffle and a great afternoon close to home.

December 12th it was off to the Stoneham Senior Center to see and hear Diane Edgecomb and Margot Chamberlain. Diane is a story teller and Margot accompanies with her beautiful Celtic Harp.

It was an amazing performance by both ladies.The audience was memorized by the stories that Ms. Edgecomb told accompanied by the sweet music of the harp.

It was a lovely afternoon..different then most; and a show we would all like to see again.

We do have one more function this month on December 31st. at the Stoneham Theater, but I will hold off and tell you about it next month.
