Red Hatters for June 2026

By Shirley Rabb

It is summer my friends and it has been HOT.

June 3rd. and We started this month when we went to see ANNIE at the Stoneham theater.

What a great show. The singing ,the story of a young girl living in a welfare situation, and the wonderful outcome. Listening to the voices of the young actors was amazing and clear and smooth. They were having as much fun as we, in the audience were having.

And a happy Christmas day ending..

We love to go back in time to some of the shows we had seem before. They always seem different....perhaps we are too.

June 6th in the full house at Memorial Hall in Melrose the Polymnia Choral Society performed their last appearance for this year.

The Polymnia Choral Society is composed of people who love to sing and to share their music with others. Founded in Wakefield in 1953 and based in Melrose since 1956, the group serves the cultural and educational interests of a number of communities north of Boston by presenting concerts ranging from sacred hymns and classical music to popular show tunes.

The chorus includes more than 60 voices, with most of the singers coming from Melrose, Malden, Wakefield, Stoneham and Saugus; some members come from as far away as Concord, Westborough, Marblehead and Topsfield.

Murry Kidd is the artistic director, and has been since 2007. He came dressed this evening in a party outfit, ready to make music come alive.

There was music from plays like "Wicked", and "Time Warp". Music from " Waitress" and "Sunday in the park".

A wonderful solo of the song "The impossible dream."..

And a standing audience applauding Nora Tinstman for her beautiful rendition of"When I Grow Up".

Nora was the 20256 Spotlight winner on High School Talent, and now adds her voice to Polymnia...

It was a wonderful evening with a great band and
sing-a-longs., and people humming as we left the hall.

June 23rd the Melrose Senior Center had a Country Western BBQ. We had pulled pork sandwiches, Cowboy Caviar (Bean salad) and cowboy cookies.

We were entertained with the music of the Country Mile Duo and the party started....

It was a great hour of dancing and singing along with the music. The food was good and many of us were dressed up to fill the hall with a friendly atmosphere of camaraderie.

To end the month on the 30th. we headed to Tuckaway Tavern in Raymond N>H> .

Monday and Tuesday lobster special....Great lobster roll for $25.00 and a second one FREE plus two exciting sides. We did have to wait and hour but that is not unusual for Tuckaway. They do not take reservations but there are always people waiting, any day of the week but Monday and Tuesday WOW.

Service is outstanding, atmosphere is loud and exciting ,and a great fun place to eat.

A one hour drive to eat, enjoy, and take home that second lobster roll for later.

Stay safe my friends, be cool and Red Hat happy with us, as we move forward...
