Red Hatters for March 2025

It feels like spring... so on March 4th. we drove to Tuckaway Tavern in Mason N.H. for two lobster rolls. On any Monday or Tuesday you can get two lobster rolls and two sides for the price of one roll.

This is a great place to visit. The Tavern has a full scale butcher shop, snacks, cheeses, and an outstanding restaurant.

We always take home boxes,usually with one of the lobster rolls to enjoy at dinner.

It is a short ride, just one hour, but on a nice day it is lovely.

A great day for us, always as we spend time with friends.

March 9th. we started to celebrate St. Patrick's day by gong to the Regal Players in Waltham to see a performance of The Magic of Ireland.

With our Red Hats and a touch of green we were ready to celebrate the upcoming holiday.

The performance was like an invitation to witness a journey through the heart and soul of Irish music and dance. There were four featured performers telling the story of their heritage, the songs and stories that they grew up with.

A small orchestra played along with the singing and the dancing of the Harney Academy of Irish Dancers.

The stage was a simple setting and only brightly lit when the dancers performed.

It was a good way to start the upcoming All American Irish Holiday.

With daylight savings time in place we drove to the Continental restaurant in Woburn for our dinner.

As most places we go the food was good, and the service top notch.

On March 17th it was raining, but it was the real St. Patty's day... There were only four of us and we headed for Bunratty's in North Reading for a St. Patty's day lunch.

We were lucky to be seated soon after we gt there. The sounds were of happy people talking loud, eating and drinking to the wearing of the green.

Strangers became quick friends, as we ordered our corn beef and cabbage meals.

The service was swift even with the busy, rushing, smiling day.

We enjoyed the sounds around us as people passed and waved at our red hats and green adornments.

The food was hot and good, there were take home boxes, and we left room for dessert.

Off to Socs for ice cream, and then home to the quiet, with a lilt of Irish in our hearts.

March 18th. and Sheryl Faye is back. It has been a stretch since she performed in this area and we were happy to welcome her back to the Saugus Senior Center. We were served lunch and sat back to relax and talked about the talent of Sheryl Faye, and her upcoming transformation.

But before the show, comes about an hour of Sheryl setting up the scene; today was to change herself to Anne Frank.

And behold.....

The story of Anne Frank is well know about a young Jewish girl and her family that were in hiding for two years. The space was limited; they had to go barefoot so neighbors would not hear them, and there view was from one small cracked window.

Sheryl spoke as Anne Frank as she reminisced about the diary that she wrote, and which became one of the most popular books in our time.

The story is about prejudice, not only for the Jews during the Hitler regime, but prejudice among many people.

A touching and timeless story that left the audience silently absorbing the issues of all time.

The applause filled the room as we all know that Anne Frank did not survive.

A perfect performance, as Sheryl started packing up for her next show.

She did take a minute to spend with us and then back to packing.

We look forward to see her again when she shows up in our area, in whatever of her many Historical Women shows.
