Welcome to fall, the season of color and cooler weather.
We started this new month on September 8th as we headed out to South Hamilton for the Polo matches. We have been to the matches before and it has always been great fun.
We arrived early, as many people do, and we usually got seats in the pavilion but there was a private party taking up the space. We were lucky enough that one of the attendance came to our aid and set up chairs for us across the field under a canopy. This gave us 50 yard line views of the games and shade; it was better than the pavilion seats. We settled in and since we had brought our lunch from home we dug right in.

The game is a quiet one for the fans for shouting, as in football or baseball, the horses could be distracted. To watch the riders as they handle the beautiful horses is, in itself a wonderful sight. There are teams of four players and four ponies on each squad at any given time. Most players have multiple ponies and the animals get swapped between quarters. The horses can travel up to 35 miles an hour and the ball can go 95 miles an hour so the pace is fast, and exciting to watch.
Our dinner today was at the Choate Bridge Pub in Ipswich. There is a bar and a restaurant area. We were lucky to get a table for 7 in the busy restaurant. The pace here was also fast as waitresses moved from table to table where everyone seemed happy with there food and just being here . And the service and the food were excellent. From fish to pizza to ribs to refills on the spot. It is a fun place with locals and outsiders and the sounds were busy and happy.

It was a good start for the season as we took our doggie bags and headed for the cars and home.
With other commitments for this month we found we had gone through the month with only one other trip and that was to the Old Timers baseball game on September 28th.
Since most of us had been there many time, still three hearty members joined to cheer the teams on. It was a fun day and the scores really never do matter. We sat on the field, close to the game and exchanged conversations with members of both teams. When you can be outdoors, close on the field and can shout out loud it is a wonderful day. Dinner this day was back to The Rusty Can and, as before, our food and service were great. Another month; another super Red Hat time!
