Red Hatters September 2024

by Shirley Rabb

Here we go again...

Our first jaunt for this month was on September 2nd, at 7:Pm. (A rare evening outing for us).

A few of us had dinner at Brick Yard restaurant in Woburn before heading for the show.

Some of us have gone, the last few years, to Lancaster Pennsylvania to see a performance of Sight and Sound. This years performance is Daniel.

It is an outstanding show that you can only see on the stage, in Lancaster or Branson Missouri .The shows run for the whole year and all performances are usually sold out.(We have purchased our tickets for next year when we will see Noah).

Finally they have put together a movie of this years performance of Daniel and we went to the Woburn theater to see how the movie compared to the original on stage showing.

The movie was outstanding; almost as if we were back in Pennsylvania at the theater.

There was an introduction and information of the Sight and Sound production; and their story of how they began and continue to produce stories from the pages of the Scriptures and history, on the stage and now the big screen. It was well worth our going out for this evening.

On September 12th we headed for Winchester and the Griffin Museum of Photography.

The major exhibit at this time was on VISION(ARY); Artificial Intelligence: disinformation in a post truth world.

The young lady at the desk explained about the new way of producing pictures. It is not my thoughts on true photography; Hundreds,or thousands of pictures are taken of one subject and then put into and AI (artificial intelligence) program which then alters the picture by scrambling the original subject to produce a new photo. Many of the photos become visions of the subject and the original background.

I must admit it is far to ahead in time for me. The previous pictures are some done with the new

concept.

The next picture is for real...

Our lunch was at the Main St.Grill and Tap room in Wakefield. The ribs were as good as Floramo's ,

the mushrooms and the service was outstanding.

This month seems to be short of places to go for the group but....One of our members went to Pennsylvania with her four daughters to see the Sight and Sound production of Daniel. The went to museums and toured the Amish country before coming home.

Another member took a three week tour to England, Wales, and Scotland; and I drove to

Saint Leonard Canada for a day and then spent 8 days traveling along the coast of Maine from

Van Buren Maine back down to spend time at the Apple Festival in Alfred Maine.

All of the above without our Red Hats but more memories to add to our growing list of place to go and things to continue doing.

Keep watching us and if you have any suggestions of places to go let us know.

Get ready for October...witches and goblins on the way.
