Restaurant Filling Hilltop's Shoes

A chain is making moves to open a 5,600-square foot restaurant at the site of the old Route 1 staple.

AvalonBay has initiated a process that would result in 110 Grill opening a restaurant at the site of the old Hilltop, according to multiple reports.

AvalonBay is heading up the massive retail and residential development at the site of the famed Cactus on Route 1. There will be about 24,000 square feet of retail space, with 110 Grill operating a nearly 200-seat 5,6000 square foot restaurant, reports Wicked Local.

The process isn't finalized as AvalonBay and 110 Grill are stilling working on a lease, but the restaurant is slated to open in early 2019, according to ItemLive.

While the Hilltop is long gone, the cactus will survive.

So what is 110 Grill? The menu suggests generally upscale American fare that looks relatively affordable. It has Massachusetts locations in Berlin, Braintree, Chelmsford, Fall River, Havehill, Hopkinton, Leominster, Marlborough, and Wayland, and New Hampshire locations in Nashua and Rochester. It plans on opening in Athol, Maynard, Woburn Worcester, and Wrentham in 2018, according to its website.
