Saugus Kmart To Close In May, New Store Waiting

SAUGUS, MA — The Kmart off Route 1 in Saugus will close May 27, according to the Saugus Advertiser.

Kmart, which along with Sears has seen major closings across the country consistent with the decline of brick-and-mortar retailers, has had a diminishing presence across Massachusetts. The one-time mainstay will have only eight locations across the Bay State after the Saugus one closes.

The Advertiser also reported Floor and Décor Outlets of America, Inc. has presented plans to the Planning Board to take over the space, which is next to Bed Bath & Beyond in Saugus Plaza. Floor and Décor is expected to open in September.
