So Many changes

So many changes

... I can't believe it's closing

I have just gone down to Malden Square to pay my last respects to
Spark's Department Store. So sad, so sad. It is finally closing up shop.
Closing it's doors. Going the way of all of our other neighborhood
department stores. W.T.Grant's, Kresgies, the 5 and 10, Woolworth's. All
gone, but not forgotten.

Almy's, Zayre's, J.M. Fields. All gone. Just like the neighborhood
drug stores, slowly but surely they closed their doors. They have been
replaced by the Walmarts and Kmarts. I know that Sparks was the only
store that sold Peter Pan Collared Blouses for little girls and
button-down shirts for boys when they attended St. Mary's school. They
always carried uniforms, too. You could get white gloves there,
nightgowns and socks and even underwear. They used to have great pajamas
for kids. In later years, I really haven't shopped there, but just
knowing that I could, was kind of comforting.

Now, just like the Hilltop Steak House, it will be gone, but not forgotten. I don't like changes. I don't like them at all.
