Super Bowl Saturday: What You Need to Know
The Melrose High football team is one win away from its first ever state championship.

1.) THE BASICS: The 10-2 Melrose High football team, the Division 3 North champ, is facing South champ Dartmouth, also 10-2, at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, in the Division 3 Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough for the state championship. The Red Raiders have never won a Super Bowl and last played in one 32 years ago, in 1982.
(The 6 p.m. kickoff time is an approximate time, as the game will follow the Division 6, 2, 1 and 4 Super Bowls, with 15 minutes between each game.)

2.) 4 WAYS TO FOLLOW THE GAME:
Live: Traveling to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough? Tickets to the game are $17 for adults, $15 for students and senior citizens and free for children 5 and under. Tickets are good for all of the six Super Bowl games Saturday and include parking. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster and will be available starting at 8 a.m. Saturday (games start at 9 a.m.) at the Gillette Stadium ticket office located outside the Patriot Place gate. 3.) LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON: Four Melrose players’ fathers played in the team’s last Super Bowl in 1982, according to a Boston Globe feature story. Melrose lost to Natick, 35-34, in that Super Bowl. The sons include two of Melrose’s top playermakers, quarterback Jake Karelas and running back Jack Hickey, as well as linebacker Brian McLaughlin and fullback Zack Mercer.
4.) THE OTHER GAMES: Again, all kickoff times are approximate, as the games follow one another.
- 9 a.m., Division 6 Super Bowl, Cohasset vs. Littleton
- 11 a.m., Division 2 Super Bowl, Longmeadow vs. Marshfield
- 1:30 p.m., Division 1 Super Bowl, Everett vs. Xaverian
- 3:30 p.m., Division 4 Super Bowl, Holliston vs. Wahconah Regional
- 6 p.m., Division 3 Super Bowl, Dartmouth vs. Melrose
- 8 p.m., Division 6 Super Bowl, Abington vs. Northbridge
