…. Have you eaten your peck of dirt yet?
Have you eaten your peck of dirt yet? Well, that will depend on your age. We have all grown up with that old wives tale…or is it? In spite of all your precautions to avoid eating things that you shouldn’t, over your lifetime, you WILL eat a peck of “dirt”. As a child, it was ACTUALLY eating dirt in the playground or sand pile and as you grew older the dirt came in other forms. This isn’t necessarily bad because some bacteria is necessary and, in fact, strengthens the immune system. We are so conscious today of trying to avoid contact with germs, to be antiseptically clean by constantly washing, brushing, scrubbing, etc., we make ourselves more vulnerable to catching something. So don’t fall behind in your quest to eat YOUR peck. If you forgot what is a peck, it’s eight quarts or two gallons.
