Victim Of 'Heinous' Melrose Hit-And-Run Dies
Brother Edward Bozzo, C.F.X., 85, of Melrose, died Monday evening, Malden Catholic said. No arrests have been made.

MELROSE, MA — The victim of what police called a "heinous" hit-and-run in Melrose six weeks ago has died. Brother Edward Bozzo, C.F.X., 85, of Melrose died Monday evening at the KaplanFamily Hospice House in Danvers, Malden Catholic said.
Bozzo was a former administrator, faculty member, and archivist at Malden Catholic since the mid-1980s.
"I ask the entire Malden Catholic community to join me in celebrating the brilliant life of Brother Ed Bozzo," said Headmaster Thomas J. Doherty III. "An unfailingly kind and gentle presence, Brother Bozzo embodied the essence of Xaverian humility and simplicity. We honor his many years of devoted service to Malden Catholic, and are profoundly grateful for all that he did to make a Catholic, Xaverian education possible for scores of deserving students. Please pray for Brother Ed, his fellow Xaverian Brothers, and the many generations of students he impacted in ways great and small. May he rest in the peace of Christ."

Bozzo was struck by a vehicle driving the wrong way down one-way Herbert Street while out for a morning walk July 9. Police said responders arrived to find Bozzo laying in the road. He was taken to a Boston hospital.
Police said Bozzo was struck from behind and dragged before the vehicle fled. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the Melrose Police Sgt. Jon Goc at 781-665-1212.

Bozzo's Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Saint John’s Prep., 72 Spring St., Danvers. A burial will follow in Xaverian Brothers Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the Mass from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bozzo's name may be made to any scholarship fund at any Xaverian Brothers sponsored school.
Arrangements are by C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
