Why Maya Jamaledinne is an Advocate for all Melrosians

"Maya has worked hard to ensure that Melrose is welcoming and inclusive to all" -- Aaron Beitman

On November 5th, Melrose will elect a new mayor and largely new City Council. These elections will reflect our community’s enduring and emerging strengths. Since moving to Melrose, Maya Jamaledinne has demonstrated a deep respect for those who have made this city what it is today as well as a passion for making our city even better. I write today in strong support of Maya’s candidacy for Melrose City Councilor-At-Large.

Maya has worked hard to ensure that Melrose is welcoming and inclusive to all, from families with young children to seniors and everyone in between. As a member and current chair of the Melrose Human Rights Commission (MHRC), Maya has organized numerous well-attended cultural events, including the annual Community Iftar dinner, Diwali celebration, the MLK Day of Service, vigils, and the annual International Welcome Dinner.

Having served with Maya on the MHRC, I can attest that Maya cares about the big picture but also sweats the small stuff. If elected as Councilor-At-Large, Maya will apply herself energetically to improve sustainability, strengthen inclusion, upgrade accessibility, and build stronger links between City Hall and the Melrose School Committee.

Maya’s authenticity, devotion to her community, and work ethic will make her an excellent advocate for all Melrosians. I strongly support Maya’s candidacy for Melrose City Councilor-At-Large and encourage your consideration of Maya’s candidacy as well.
