Zero Waste Melrose Announces Dates for Spring Swap Day, Yard Sale and More
Events offer a range of opportunities to reduce, reuse, and recycle

Zero Waste Melrose has six events planned across April, May, and June. Be sure to visit www.zerowastemelrose.org and follow us on social media for details
- April 12: Terracycle Collection at the Melrose Farmers Market, 11 am - 2 pm, Melrose YMCA 497 Main St. Review the updated list of hard-to-recycle items accepted at zerowastemelrose.org/melrose-zwm-terracycle
- May 2: Recycling and Sustainability Day - Zero Waste Melrose will once again be at the Recycling and Sustainability Day organized by Rep. Kate Lipper-Garabedian and the City of Melrose. At this popular event, ZWM will run the polystyrene recycling station as well as accept Terracycle items for recycling.
- May 16: Repair Cafe (with Lend and Mend) - Hosted at the Milano Center (201 W Foster St), a Repair Cafe is a free community event focused on repairing things (together). Folks can bring broken household items like lamps, small kitchen appliances, small furniture, stuffed animals, and more! Volunteers are on hand to assess broken items, and they may perform a fix, or help make a plan for how and where to get items fixed. Stay tuned for event schedule.
- June 13: City Wide Yard Sale (with Lend and Mend) - Registration to host a sale and for event sponsors will open soon. All funds generated from the city-wide yard sale will go toward community events and outreach done by Zero Waste Melrose and Lend and Mend, including free swap days, repair cafe, and more. The rain date for the yard sale is planned for June 14.
- June 27: Spring Swap Day - NEW DATE, originally 6/20 Now in its 12th year, Swap Days are a Melrose mainstay. Swaps are free community reuse events that provide an opportunity to save reusable items from being discarded and give them a new life and a new home. You don’t have to bring something to take something! And if you do leave something, don’t feel that you have to take something away. If you are looking to de-clutter, swap events are a good opportunity to give new life to items that may no longer have a place in your home but that have not outlived their usefulness. The Spring Swap will take place in the Melrose High School parking lot, from 8 am - 12 pm.
