2 Killed, 4 Injured in Van Rollover; Men Were Driving From Milford to Maine

A van rollover in Merrimac, MA, killed two and injured four who were traveling from Milford.

MILFORD, MA—Two men died and four injured in a van rollover crash in Merrimac on Thursday were from Milford.

The crash occurred on Route 495, south of Exit 53, in Merrimac, the six men driving from Milford to Maine to work on a roofing job, reports WHDH-TV Channel 7 News.

The investigation found that the white 2004 Ford Econovan lost control around 6:55 a.m., rolling into a median strip, reports the Newburyport News.

A preliminary state police investigation found that the driver of the white 2004 Ford Econovan, in which the six men were traveling, lost control of the vehicle for reasons as yet unknown about 6:55 a.m.

While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, state police are looking into the possibility of a tire blowing out, causing the van to roll over into the median strip near Exit 53.

Police reported to WHDH that "seat belts were a factor" in the crash in which a tire blew out. All were transported to the hospital. One was pronounced dead on the scene and another pronounced dead at the hospital. The person pronounced dead at the scene had been ejected from the van, reports NECN.
