MILFORD, MA — Milford Public Schools has officially appointed its newest athletic director.

Steven DiVitto, the former Dean of Students at Milford High School, will take the helm as the district's AD. This comes after the district's former AD, Peter Boucher, resigned in February, and DiVitto was appointed as the interim leader.

Boucher worked as the school system's AD for 12 years and resigned to take the role of Wellness Director in another community. MPS did not share where he would be working.

DiVitto served five years as dean of students at Milford High School, and also worked for several years as coordinator of an alternative pathway program for high school students and previously taught at the high school level for about five years.

A 2003 Milford High School graduate, DiVitto earned a bachelor's degree in organizational communications from Assumption University in 2007 and a master's degree in special education from American International College in 2017.

Before becoming interim athletic director, DiVitto was head coach of the Milford High School girls softball team from 2014 to 2025. He stepped down before this past season to take the interim post. He also has served as head coach of the Milford Legion Baseball team for the past 12 years.

His teams won a state softball championship in 2017 and a Legion baseball state title in 2014. He was also named the state's Softball Coach of the Year in 2017.

“As a proud alumnus, former player, and coach who grew up in this community, stepping into the permanent role of Athletic Director is an honor,” DiVitto said. “The rich legacy of Milford Athletics is something I deeply respect, and I am fully committed to upholding and building upon the high standards our community expects.”

Milford High School Principal Josh Otlin said DiVitto's background as an alumnus, coach and school leader made him the right fit for the role.

“Milford High School has a long and distinguished history of success, not only in athletic competitions but in producing student-athletes that are community leaders and champions in the classroom,” Otlin said. “I have no doubt that he will continue and enhance the tradition of Scarlet Hawk Pride.”

DiVitto takes over a Milford athletic department that includes 27 varsity teams, 19 sub-varsity teams, seven middle school teams and three Unified/Special Olympics teams. Milford High School competes in the Hockomock League, where member schools regularly contend for state championships across boys' and girls' sports.

Superintendent Craig Consigli said the district wanted its next athletic director to understand Milford's traditions and championship expectations.

“Having someone who understands the traditions and embodies the championship culture of Milford Athletics was very important to me when we hired our next AD,” Consigli said. “He is a Scarlet Hawk through and through.”
