$350K For Milford Projects In State Economic Development Bill
State lawmakers have handed Gov. Charlie Baker a $3.8 billion spending plan for surplus revenue and stimulus money.
MILFORD, MA — A sweeping $3.8 billion economic development bill sent by lawmakers to Gov. Charlie Baker earlier this month could fund several major projects in Milford.
The bill uses a combination of federal pandemic stimulus dollars and state surplus money to pay for an enormous variety of initiatives, from MBTA upgrades to supporting hospitals and nursing homes hampered by COVID-19.
The bill also includes earmarks for local projects in cities and towns across the state. Here's what was carved out for Milford in the bill:

- $150,000 shall be expended for improvements to the Fino Field Athletic and Baseball Field Complex
- $200,000 shall be expended to the Milford Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc. for road safety improvements and sewer upgrades in the town of Milford
Baker, who will leave office in January, had not as of Tuesday signed the bill. Baker submitted his own $840 million spending plan earlier this fall, suggesting $200 million for the MBTA, $108 million on continued COVID-19 care — including vaccines, testing and personal protective equipment — and about $90 million on housing for the homeless, people leaving skilled nursing care centers and recent immigrants.
