5 Best Places to Volunteer Your Time

The holidays are a great time to start a tradition of volunteering.

Looking to give the gift of time this holiday season? These organizations could use your help:

1. The needs volunteers to distribute food donations on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6 to 7:30. To sign up, please stop by the pantry during Monday hours (6 to 7:30 p.m.), or call Cheryl D'Angelo at (508) 478-0796. Volunteers are also needed to assist in picking up food from the Worcester Food Bank on Tuesdays at 8 a.m. No time to volunteer? Food and monetary donations are accepted on at the pantry.

2. The is still looking for Bell Ringers. To volunteer as an individual, family, or organization, please contact Dave Irwin at (508) 473-0786. No time to volunteer? You can start your own virtual kettle at 4onlineredkettle.org to collect donations online.

3. The is looking for volunteers for its 3rd annual , particularly with running holiday crafts and activities at the event. If you are interested in helping out you can fill out this online form here or call (508) 473-1756. No time to volunteer? The Youth Center is collecting gifts for girls and boys up to age 12 on behalf of the Salvation Army. Drop off your unwrapped gift in the Youth Center lobby before Dec. 14.

4. has a variety of volunteer opportunities, ranging from patient care, to reception and mailroom positions. 5. needs Playspace Activity Leaders to play with children in its shelter-based playspaces. There is a training session in Medway on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 10.
