MILFORD, MA — A student from Milford has been named Blackstone Valley Tech's 2026 Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators Outstanding Vocational Technical Student.
Senior Andrew Dolan was recognized during the 40th annual MAVA Outstanding Vocational Technical Student Awards Ceremony held April 16 at Mechanics Hall in Worcester. The prestigious recognition honors students who demonstrate excellence in academics, vocational training and community involvement.
Dolan, who is a senior in Blackstone Valley Tech’s Health Services program, has distinguished himself as a passionate advocate for both the skilled trades and the nursing profession throughout his high school career, according to the school.
His accomplishments include serving as vice president of SkillsUSA and earning a national gold medal in a health care competition. He also serves as president of both Blackstone Valley Tech’s National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society chapters.
Beyond the classroom, Dolan has shown a strong commitment to community service. His volunteer work with the Aaron Zenus Foundation and the Ty Louis Campbell Foundation earned him the Gold President’s Volunteer Service Award, the school says.
Dolan has also gained extensive real-world health care experience through Blackstone Valley Tech’s cooperative education program with UMass Memorial Medical Center in Marlborough. Working as a medical-surgical inpatient clinical technician, he provides direct patient care and supports patients during recovery.
In addition, he participates in an emergency medicine internship at Milford Regional Medical Center, a nonprofit teaching hospital within the UMass Memorial Health system.
Following graduation, Dolan plans to continue his vocational education by pursuing a doctoral degree in acute trauma nursing, according to the school. His goal is to become a nurse practitioner specializing in emergency medicine.
