MILFORD, MA — Celtic culture, traditional strength sports, live music and international competition will take center stage in Milford next month as the 6th Annual No Fame Games comes to Fino Field Annex on June 13.

The all-day event, also known as the Celtic Strength World Championships, inspired by the Scottish Highland Games, will feature athletes from around the world competing in a variety of traditional Celtic athletic contests, including the Northeast Irish Collar and Elbow Championships and the North American Scottish Backhold Wrestling Championships.

Organizers say the timing is especially fitting, with Scotland returning to World Cup play that same day at Gillette Stadium.

The No Fame Games runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and aims to celebrate Celtic heritage through sports, culture and community events.

Among the featured competitions are:

One of the event’s headline attractions is the return of Irish Collar and Elbow wrestling to New England. Organizers say the sport had largely disappeared for nearly 100 years, despite having been practiced by George Washington.

“Our event aims to foster and promote Celtic strength, culture and its traditional athletics,” said No Fame Games founder Joshua Mackintosh. “We believe true strength is bringing people together so we all positively impact the sport, culture and community by using active and creative ways of staying healthy.”

Beyond the athletic competitions, the festival will include live music, youth activities and a “Tug-of-War Against the Pros” event for attendees. Visitors can also enjoy Celtic vendors, gourmet food offerings and drinks from The Black Harp traveling Irish Pub.

Founded in 2021, No Fame Games describes itself as a community-focused organization dedicated to promoting Celtic athletics and traditions in an inclusive and accessible way.

Tickets for the event are available here.
