Milford Curbside Trash, Recycling Program Moving To Highway Department

MILFORD, MA — Milford officials say residents will not see any changes in curbside trash and recycling pickup when oversight of the program moves to a different town department this summer.

The Milford Board of Health announced Thursday that management of the town's curbside rubbish and recycling program will transfer to the Highway Department effective July 1, 2026. The board said the change reflects its growing public health workload and will align Milford with the way most communities manage solid waste programs, which are commonly overseen by public works or highway departments.

Residents should continue putting rubbish and recycling at the curb on their usual collection days, according to the announcement. The town contracts with EL. Harvey and Sons, Inc. for weekly pickup and removal of solid waste.

After July 1, questions about the curbside program should go to the Waste and Recycling Manager at the Highway Department at (774) 462-3312, according to the Board of Health.

The town's online recycling guide currently directs residents with weekly curbside trash and recycling questions to the Board of Health, while questions about the transfer station go to the transfer station manager.
