MILFORD, MA — A Milford High School senior has earned national recognition for her PSAT performance.
Emily K. Jansons was named a Commended Student in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program after placing among the 50,000 highest-scoring entrants nationwide, Principal Josh Otlin announced Monday. She qualified based on the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
About 1.3 million students entered the 2027 program by taking the qualifying test, and approximately 34,000 students are receiving commendations this year, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Principal Otlin will present Jansons with a Letter of Commendation from Milford High School and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
"Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic
success," a spokesperson for NMSC said. "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."
