MILFORD, MA — Milford High School boys' volleyball coach Andrew Mainini has earned statewide recognition following another deep postseason run.
Milford Public Schools announced Wednesday that Mainini was named a recipient of the 2025-26 Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Coach of the Year Award for spring boys' volleyball. He will be honored Dec. 7 at the MIAA Awards Banquet at the DoubleTree Hotel in Milford.
Mainini led the Scarlet Hawks to a 15-8 record and a Final Four appearance in spring 2026. It marked Milford's fourth Final Four appearance in five seasons, following runs in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
Athletic Director Steven DiVitto praised Mainini's poise, passion, and ability to earn his players' trust.
"His leadership skills and the ability to have his players 'rowing the boat in the same direction' was such a pleasure to watch," DiVitto said in the district's announcement.
Mainini has coached Milford's boys' volleyball team since 2016, compiling a 152-73 record over 11 seasons. He also coached the girls' volleyball program from 2013 to 2019, posting a 117-35 record and winning the 2017 Division 3 Central Massachusetts championship.
His previous honors include the 2023 Boston Globe Division 2 Coach of the Year award, the 2022 MetroWest Daily News Coach of the Year award, the 2019 Tri-Valley League Coach of the Year award and the 2018 American Volleyball Coaches Association 30 Under 30 Coach award.
Mainini has taught Spanish and English as a second language at Milford High School since 2012. He also directs Mass Mayhem Club Volleyball and the Milford Grass Volleyball League and organizes the Linda Zacchilli Memorial Pickleball Tournament.
"Coaches teach their athletes to be great people," Mainini said. "This means building athletes who are responsible, hard-working, selfless, empathetic and good community members."
