Baseball Coach to run for Milford Parks Commissioner
Paul Pellegrini, the head baseball coach at Milford High School, drew papers at Town Hall Wednesday to run for an open spot on the Parks Commission. Longtime commissioner Arthur Morin, Jr. is not seeking re-election.

Milford High School's head baseball coach, Paul Pellegrini, pulled papers to run for an open seat as a town Parks Commissioner on Wednesday. It will be his first run for public office.
Arthur Morin, Jr., whose seat is opening, will not seek re-election, said Town Clerk Amy Hennessy Neves. Morin has served as a parks commissioner for decades.
Pellegrini, 39, grew up in Milford and is employed by Oliva's as its catering coordinator. He said he has been active in athletics and parks-related issues.

The nomination papers for Milford elected offices became available Monday. So far, only one potential race has emerged, for town treasurer.

Brian Murray, incumbent, Board of Selectmen; Barbara Auger, incumbent, Treasurer; Michael Soares, Treasurer; Joseph Arcudi, incumbent, Board of Assessors; Patrick Kennelly, incumbent, Planning Board; Patrick Holland, incumbent, School Committee; Scott Vecchiolla, incumbent, Trustee of Vernon Grove Cemetery; Barbara Clement and Joseph Arcudi, both incumbents, Constable; John P. Byrnes, incumbent, Board of Library Trustees; Gerald F. Hennessy, incumbent, Board of Health.
The Milford town election is April 2.
Nomination papers for elected officers became available for the first time Monday. Papers can be withdrawn until 5 p.m. Feb. 8 from the Milford Town Clerk's office. Once the candidate collects the required 50 or more signatures, and the paperwork is verified, their name will be added to the town election ballot. Candidates have until Feb. 12 to return their signature lists.
