Blackstone police said the 17-year-old boy was arrested based on tips from the public.

BLACKSTONE, MA — A Blackstone teen was arrested and charged for the shooting killing of a pet cat with an arrow. The cat was shot on Thursday night with an arrow on Old Mendon Street. The cat's injuries were deemed too severe and it was euthanized.
A 17-year-old boy, whose name was not released, is facing multiple charges including killing or maiming an animal and discharging a firearm near a highway.
Before police found the teen and made the arrest, the department partnered with an anonymous person to offer a $500 cash reward to anyone who could help police identify and catch the person responsible.

After getting several tips from neighbors, police executed a search warrant on Sunday morning in the teen's home, which wasn't far from where the cat was shot, according to police. In his house, police found a bow and several arrows matching the one that killed the cat.
“I want to commend Blackstone Police and the Blackstone Valley Drug & Anti Crime Task Force for their dedication to this case,” Chief Gregory Gilmore said. “Through the public’s assistance, we were able to identify, locate and bring this individual to justice.”
