Smoke Free Restaurants?

I shouldn't be punished and forced to sit inside on a beautiful night because I DON'T SMOKE! It should be the exact opposite.

While my wife and daughter were away for the evening, my 5-year-old son and I decided it was time to go grab a bite to eat. The plan was to head to our favorite restaurant,.  This would be quick and convenient as we needed to make an important trip to for a new nerf gun - very important.

Once we arrived, we saw there were a couple of tables available on the front patio. What a beautiful night - what a beautiful way to enjoy our dinner together - father and son.

As we were enthralled in the game of "Can you see my eyes through my sunglasses?," I became aware of the stink of cigarette smoke. I assumed it was one of the cars that drove by or some smoke that made it's way to the front from the back of the building.

Then I saw it...

There it was -  a cigarette! How can that be? All restaurants are now smoke free, right? This must be some Milford hooligan trying to get in a quick smoke while the Alamo employees aren't looking.

Old Man Borr will get to the bottom of this! With my chest held high, I asked if there was smoking allowed on the patio. I knew her answer was going to be no. My jaw (and salsa) fell to the ground when she told me it was allowed.

Now look, I can understand the restaurant is doing what it can to drum up business by allowing smoking on the front patio, but do they have to allow it all hours of the day? Can't they say between the hours of 4 and 7 p.m. you can't smoke on the patio? That way, families/children don't have to be exposed to the nastiness of cigarette smoke.

Find a nice enclosed glass casing for these people to enjoy their cancer sticks together. (I will say one woman was nice enough to move her seat away from my son when she arrived as she was a smoker.)

I love the Alamo (I mentioned them in a postive light a couple of weeks ago) and would love to hear them make some improvements in this area. I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter.

Go Bruins!
