Despite Protests, Planning Board Approves Concrete Plant

The planning board approved the controversial plan Tuesday night.

Despite protests from residents and concerns about the environmental and traffic impacts, the planning board approved a proposed concrete batch plant on East Street Tuesday night.

The 4-1 vote allows FRE Building Corporation to go ahead with their plan according to the Milford Daily News. Prior to the vote, a Citizens for Milford member Peter Scandone spoke on the group’s concerns regarding the monitoring and enforcement of the environmental mitigation measures.

After residents spoke, Planning Board Member Patrick Kennelly told the crowd that they are not an enforcement board, meaning that if the use is allowed on the property, it can be placed there.
