Early Voting Begins In Wayland, But Thousands Have Mailed Ballots

WAYLAND, MA — Early voting in Wayland kicks off this Saturday, but the Town Clerk is already reporting that it has processed about 3,600 mail-in ballot applications.

Massachusetts voters are being encouraged to vote by mail this fall due to the coronavirus pandemic. Those ballots can be dropped in the mail, or in a ballot box outside the police station. The Secretary of State has also set up an online ballot tracker.

All in-person early voting will happen at the Wayland Town Hall, 41 Cochituate Road, during these hours:

• Aug. 22 — 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
• Aug. 23 — 8 a.m. to noon
• Aug. 24 — 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Aug. 25 to 28 — 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The primary will largely be an event for Democrats due to the race between U.S. Sen. Ed Markey and U.S. Rep. Joseph Kennedy III. Kennedy is seeking to unseat Markey to move from Congress to the Senate.

Republicans in Wayland will have one race to decide between two men vying to face either Kennedy or Markey in the general election.
