For the eighth year in a row, the Chabad Jewish Center of Milford is sponsoring this Annual Freedom Menorah Lighting and Chanukah Celebration at the Franklin Town Common, at the intersection of Main Street and High Street, on the fourth night of Chanukah.
Children and adults are invited to meet at the town common to celebrate the religious freedoms granted by this country. Traditional Chanukah songs will be sung, there will be entertainment, and Chanukah foods, such as Latkes (fried potato pancakes), Chanukah gelt (chocolate coins), doughnuts and hot cocoa will be available. Dreidels will also be given out.
Additionally, town officials and other dignitaries will participate in the festivities and a nine-foot menorah will be on display on the common throughout the Chanukah holiday, which begins at sundown on Wed., Dec. 1, and ends the evening of Thurs., Dec. 9.
