Giant Tankers Finally Leave Milford
After an unplanned visit in Milford, two very large tankers have left town.
Milford residents were probably relieved to say goodbye to an unplanned visitor that resided on Congress Street this week.
On Sunday, two huge tankers on their way to Grafton had an extended stay in town after they were unable to make the turn onto West Street according to Milford police. With the turn too tight, the tankers were forced to park overnight on Park Street and Congress Street across from the Post Office.
So how did two 120-foot tankers find themselves on a route that they were unable to complete?

According to Milford police, the route was developed by an engineering firm and approved and permits issued by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. The town was not asked for input and it cannot be altered without the approval and permits from the department.
By Tuesday night, the tankers were finally sent on their way by train to their final destination in Grafton according to WGBH.

There was more drama, however, for the tankers before reaching Grafton. The Community Advocate reports that the two cars ending up derailing before reaching Westboro Road in North Grafton.
