THE HONORABLE MICHAEL A. PONSOR - The Hanging Judge

Monday, November 24, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Milford Town Library, 80 Spruce Street, Milford, MA

Based on the experience of the author, Ponsor is a senior judge on the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, serving in Springfield, appointed to the bench by former President Bill Clinton.  From 2001 to 2001, he presided over a five-month death penalty trial, the first in Massachusetts in over fifty years.  This extraordinary debut thriller offers an unprecedented inside view of a federal death penalty trial.

Judge Ponsor takes readers into the courtroom and beyond, presenting with great sensitivity the points of view of the defendant and his wife; the victims’ families; law enforcement officers; witnesses; and the judge himself.  According to Ponsor, “the book presents the possibility of a great evil, an innocent man being killed, but the figures in the drama that threaten to commit this evil are mostly very nice, rather funky human beings.  This for me is how life works.”
