ICYMI: You Could Get a $25 Fine if You Don't Pick Up Your Dog's Poop: Milford's Dog Laws
If you live in the town of Milford, and have a dog, you should brush up on the laws on owning one.

MILFORD, MA—Most dog owners know that their pup must be registered with the town in which it lives, and that dogs aren't allowed anymore to roam freely, but do you know all the laws of Milford in terms of dog ownership?
Here are a few:
Article 15A, Section 1, says that no person should own or keep in the town a dog that disturbs the quiet of another person in any manner, including barking, biting or howling. If the "quiet person" makes a complaint, and the dog is deemed a nuisance by reason of vicious disposition, the Board of Selectmen will investigate and make an order of restraint, or disposal, if necessary.

You can't let your dog roam around the streets or in public places in Milford, according to Section 3 of the Bylaws. Here are the fines if it should happen: $15 first offense, $25 second offense, $50 for presence on public property. Any offense by unaltered males or unspayed females is $50.
Your dog has to be registered by April 1 each year, and it's valid through the following year on March 31.

- Unspayed females and unaltered males: $25
- Spayed females and altered males: $6
- Late fee for failure to license by July 1: $10
You can't let your dog poop in a public place. This includes parks, ball fields, right-of-ways, sidewalks and curbs. Your dog drops it; you pocket it. It doesn't apply to service dogs or hunting dogs. Violators get charged $25.When the animal control officers finds a dog running at large, according to Section 4 the dog should be impounded and a complete registration made. If possible, the owner will be notified right away. The dog owners is charged $10 for each 24 hour period the dog is held, and a $10 handling fee.
