Police Seek Help ID'ing Armed Robbery Suspect

The robbery occurred Tuesday at about 9 p.m.

Milford Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the man who robbed the Quik Mart on South Main Street at gunpoint Tuesday night.

Deputy Chief Jim Heron said the masked robber came into the store around 9 p.m. and demanded cash from the register. The Quik Mart attendant was the only person in the store at the time, and he was unharmed. The suspect did escape with an undisclosed amount of money after only about 30 seconds in the store.

“Armed robberies don’t frequently occur in Milford, but they do happen,” Heron said. ”Especially around this time of year.”

Police have released surveillance video of the suspect, whom they describe as about “5’8” tall, medium build, wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses, a mask covering his face, white gloves. He appeared to be waving a blue semi automatic pistol,” according to a post on the department’s Facebook page. Heron said police have no indication that this robbery is connected to a home break that occurred on Whitewood Road Tuesday morning, but all leads are being considered.

No one was hurt Tuesday night when a masked man with a gun robbed the Quik Mart on South Main Street in Milford.

According to the Milford Police log, dispatch received a silent panic alarm from the convenience store’s alarm company at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday. The owner of the shop told police his employee hit the alarm and called the owner to tell him it was an armed robbery.

Police viewed security footage and noted in the police log that the suspect appeared to be about 5-foot-9 with a heavy build. He was wearing a sweatshirt, black pants and dark-colored shoes. His face was covered and he wore gloves. He showed what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun.

The suspect fled the store on foot, headed toward Main Street, the police narrative notes.
